Love it or hate it, the newly adopted Facebook Timeline is certainly here to stay! In fact, it will be mandatory for all users to incorporate the new design by the end of February.
For those of you who haven’t adopted Timeline, basically this new format is designed to tell the story of the user’s life in a reverse chronological order from present day to date of birth. With the use of photos the user can now tell more of their story on who they really are.
So what does this have to do with your business page?
In addition to the user Timeline, Facebook will be converting all business pages to the new Timeline sometime at the end of February early March. This hasn’t been an option for brands in the past as this social network required companies to use pages versus profiles.
From a marketing standpoint, this is a huge opportunity for brands to have more control over their presence. One significant feature of Timeline is the cover photo and brands will certainly be able to customize this further to really stand out from other pages. In addition, businesses might also gain the ability to make posts to the past, either adding vintage photos for instance or even outlining their corporate history.
Everything is still being finalized by Facebook, but Timeline will definitely be a great feature for brands! Stay tuned as more details are unfolded!
